ARE YOU THE CORRIE CLASS OF 2010?

Michelle Keegan

Think you can dream up a more dastardly villain than Tony Gordon or a more lovable rogue than Steve  McDonald, or even a more dramatic storyline than Gail McIntyre’s wrongful imprisonment? Well then here’s your chance to shine.

We’ve teamed up with Coronation Street for its 50th anniversary campaign and have joined forces with Michelle Keegan, who plays Tina in the soap, and Jonathan Harvey and Jan McVerry from Corrie’s scriptwriting team, to offer school children across the UK the chance to win an exclusive scriptwriting workshop at their school, plus their teacher could win a Corrie VIP day, to include a set tour and taking part in the filming of a scene.

The Corrie Class of 2010 is a unique competition inviting Year 9 and Year 10 classes to create a new character and storyline with their teachers.

Entries will be judged by the Corrie scriptwriting team as well as a member of the cast with the winning school receiving this once in a lifetime prize.

Runners up will receive a tour of the Corrie set with their class and the five class finalists will receive an original signed Corrie script for their school.

Full details can be found at  http://www.imperialleather.co.uk/corrie and an entry pack is available online which will provide all of the materials for teachers to guide their lessons including some top tips from the Corrie scriptwriting team themselves, biogs, exclusive insights into characters and instructions on how to layout and write the episode.

The competition closes on 9th July 2010 and winners will be announced in September.

Imperial Leather inspires a different kind of soap with its first TV commercial

YouTube Preview Image

In the 1950’s, Imperial Leather was one of the first brands to invest in TV advertising, placing a commercial in between popular episodes of drama. It was this investment which led to the coining of the phrase ‘soaps’ in relation to such shows in the UK.

Take a trip back in time to see how TV advertising has changed.

Hot stuff

We know what makes a good bath, and who better to share our expertise with than you? When it’s been one of those days, and the only way to wash away your worries is a nice long soak, follow our top bathing tips and make the most of your tub time.

1. Peace and quiet is essential, so make sure any little rascals are safely tucked up in bed, and everyone else has finished their bathroom rituals for the evening. Any banging on the door will burst your little bubble of tranquillity in an instant.

2. Leave your clothes outside along with any worries or negative karma. And check everything you need to create an oasis of relaxation is within arms length, before closing the door on the rest of the world.

3. Get the temperature just right.

4. Pick and mix products to reflect your mood. Long day at the office? Try Stressless. Over done it at the gym? Give Muscle Soak a go. And why not try an all over body brush for an even greater sense of rejuvenation.

5. Spark up a few candles, for instant ambience and drape a warm facecloth over your face for a steamy couple of minutes.

6. Relax and enjoy.

7. Timing is everything, so soak long enough to fully relax but not so long you shrivel up into a human prune.

8. Snuggle into a big fluffy towel or comfy robe, turbans optional.

Mmmmmmmm perfect.

The British Soap Awards

You might have heard that Imperial Leather are sponsoring 50 glorious years of Coronation Street, so you can imagine how excited we were when we checked the diary to find this little gem was fast approaching.

It’s that time of year again, when stars of the Soap world scrub up and compete for the most prestigious award in the land. Yes, this May ‘The British Soap Awards’ will be tougher than ever. After a year of rollercoaster romances, juicy plot lines, and unstoppable baddies; it could get dirty.

It might sound biased, but we know who we’re voting for, how about you? To support your favourite soap, you can vote here: http://www.britishsoapawards.tv/

Not to be sniffed at…

Dacha

To celebrate the exciting release of Dacha, we have some essential tips for how to get the most out of your fragrance. Especially if you’re lucky enough to win a bottle of this exclusive scent for yourself:

  • Warm skin soaks up scent better. A quick spritz after your shower or bath will last noticeably longer.
  • Dab, don’t rub. Rubbing crushes the molecules rather than releasing them. And rubbing where you originally sprayed re-activates the scent.
  • Less is more. A light spray in your hair will carry throughout the day.
  • Your perfume feels right at home in a cool dry place. Sunlight can weaken it and alter the smell.
  • A perfume fades after three to five years – time for a new bottle.

If you’re as excited about fragrance as we are, remember these little tips to keep your bottles as fresh as the day they were made.

TechVision

Prepare to be green with envy as we reveal the lucky winner of our TechVision TV competition.

We asked our fans to name their favourite TV moment, and congratulations to Rachel Hughes from Honiton who came up with our favourite.

Her answer; ‘Charlie Stubbs trying to drown David Platt in the bath in Coronation Street is true TV soapy greatness! What a shame they were interrupted! And who did put the Ram in Ram A Lam A Ding Dong?! Think David needed some Imperial Leather Stressless in his bath or perhaps some Take it Easy?!’, bagged her a luxury TV on which she can enjoy hours of soap action and Imperial Leather indulgence.

But don’t worry, there will be many more fantastic prizes to get your hands on in 2010. Keep a look out for some of our most exciting competitions ever.

Happy soaking!
